Cantina Kurtatsch - Penon - 2021

Italy

Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol

Alto Adige DOC
Very complex oak-aged Pinot Grigio from the Dolomite Alps

Description

The elevation and the porous dolomite soil result in an elegant, structured 2021 Penon wine from

Cantina Kurtatsch.

Owing to the lengthy period of ripening, PENON develops a meaty mineral structure in addition to its dense body and invigorating acidity. The bouquet is highly complex and reminiscent of yellow peaches, old pear varieties and cantaloupe. A wine that shows what Pinot Grigio can be.

Tasting Notes

Appearance
Lemon colour of medium intensity.
Aroma
When you open the wine, it offers fresh aromas of jasmine and elderflower. If you let it breathe, the flavours of lemon zest, almonds, dried orange peel and apricot stone will eventually take over.
Flavor
The wine is very refreshing thanks to its high acidity. It has a medium body and a high level of alcohol. Has a complex taste of fresh and dried citrus fruits, almonds and apricots.
Overall Impression
Refined and delicate wine, this wine is very interesting even now, and will become even more complex after a few years in the cellar.
